MOVIE LOVE

You make me wanna dance in the middle of traffic
Or go singing in the rain without a jacket
I would still love you if I was a ghost
Where's a boom-box when you need it most?
Where's a lake to take you down to and do the lift?

“Don't get on that plane, 'cause I feel the same”
And if that's not movie love, I don't know what is

I wish I were a prince so I could be with you
And if I had a library I would give it to you
Not to be a hero but to get the girl
I would journey to the underworld
I would make a speech on New Years Eve to earn that kiss

“I know that it's late, but this couldn't wait”
And if that's not movie love, I don't know what is

A love without equal needs no sequel, spin-off or reboot
It's a meet-cute whenever I meet you, because you feel it too

“Don't get on that plane, 'cause I feel the same
Don't get on that plane, 'cause I feel the same"
And if that's not movie love
If that's not movie love

"I know that it's late, but this couldn't wait”
I know that it's late, but this couldn't wait”
And if that's not movie love
If that's not movie love

RESISTING RHYMES

Girl, I'm begging you please
See, I've been down on my luck, I can't go on
Can you help me to be brave?

I get hypnotised
When I look at your face I fall in love
Baby, I swear on the stars at night

They shine so strong all night through
They say when you wish upon them your wish becomes real
But all I really want to know is how you are

When you're caught in the chaos of everyday life
You can try your best to find reason or rhyme
But you won't - there's none of it to be found in this world
In this world

It's madness - nothing really makes sense
Keeping up the pretence nothing's wrong
It's hard to carry on this way
So those rare times when the stars align and everything is fine
They're to be treasured
Has it ever been your lucky day?

Something hasn't felt right
We've been spending the days and weeks apart
Now there's an ache inside my soul

Things are not what they seem
Is this real or a nightmare I'm inside?
Is there a safe place I can go?

There was a time when you were free
Now you say that I'm the only thing that you want
And I would hold you if I could, but I'm scared

BRIDGE

When there's madness, nothing really makes sense
Keeping up the pretence nothing's wrong
It's hard to carry on this way
So those rare times when the stars align and everything is fine
They're to be treasured
Has it ever been your lucky day?

So those rare times when the stars align and everything is fine
They're to be treasured
Has it ever been your lucky day?

CASA PETRARCA

Dogs barking in the square, water flowing everywhere
There's a backstreet fantasy that we were chasing
But couldn't see

We explored, hand in hand
We saw the pigeons and the café band
It was overdue for us to get away and try something new

Everything is really clear when there's no smoke in the air
It's a scent that makes me feel like I'm ready for another meal

He tried to give her a rose
But she didn't want one of those, you see
She just wanted to sit by the river and watch the sunset with me

A day can start with something sweet
And end with getting swept off your feet

Voices singing in the street, serenading us in our sleep
Look how quickly we have gone from the crazy to the calm
BLACK FRIDAY

There's silence all around, the madness is dying down
I should be homeward bound, but someone's standing in my way
It's fine to take your time, but now you've crossed the line
'Cause now you've taken mine, and left me with a lot to say

But don't despair, tomorrow is another day
And I swear that every cold Black Friday
Will be followed by a warm and sunny day

You shouldn't be surprised when the taxi man decides
He's gonna take you for a ride, he's gonna try to make you pay

But you've picked on someone strong
Someone who's worked all week long
They're not the kind you want to take on
'Cause they'll beat you at the games you like to play

CHORUS

A warm and sunny day
A warm and sunny day

But don't despair, tomorrow is another day
And I still swear, yeah, that every cold Black Friday
Will be followed by a warm and sunny day
A warm and sunny day
A warm and sunny day

WEAK DAY

Must've happened overnight
Somebody stole the light right from under me
Now I don't know what to do
I can barely move - can you help me?

Waited so long, now it's all gone wrong
And all 'cause somebody couldn't hold their tongue
And the price is being paid by those of us who remain

I wasn't there when the fires raged
But I read about it on the front page
Dark days these streets have seen
Some things, they just can't be caged
Disaster is all the rage - I hope someday it won't be
But until that day I pray you'll send some strength our way

Some of the names have changed
But things are much the same in our neighbourhood
Some are hardly there - they've stripped our cupboards bare
Things are not so good

How we all miss that time of bliss
At least that's what it felt like compared to this
We were happier before, when we believed there was more

CHORUS x2

Our way

ELEVEN-SEVEN

No one likes to get up early, to leave their bed
“I've had enough sleep” is a phrase nobody has ever said
Just the thought of waking before day-breaking
It fills me with dread
Gotta face the day, gotta beat the traffic, to stay ahead

I'm lost in a daydream
Avoiding the mainstream, and where it's flowing to
Something is going to change - if it doesn't, I'll scream

I get mine
I get mine, do you get yours?
I get mine
I get mine, do you get yours?

I'm not one to take things slowly - who's got the time?
To waste a day or a minute only would be a crime
A chance getting lost may occur on your watch, but not on mine
I take every opportunity that life throws at me
And make them shine

At least that's the game-plan, but I am a weak man
Known to exaggerate, prone to procrastinate
Sleep late whenever I can

CHORUS

I get mine
I get mine, do you get yours?
I get mine, I get mine, I get mine
I get mine, I get mine
I get mine, do you get yours?

90s KID

I was a 90s kid, so all the stupid stuff I did was private
With no social media around
It was a simpler time, now we all just live online - so social
Back then MSN was all we had

I'm the last generation who can say “Internet dating, I predate”
And for all the games and fun I had my PS1
Candy bars were bigger then, and they were thirty pence ... then

It was a hell of a decade
You had no reason to be afraid if you grew up in the nineties
It was a hell of a decade
You had no reason to be afraid if you grew up in the nineties

We had great cartoons - Dexter's Lab and Tiny Toon Adventures
Rugrats and Batman saved the day
All I listened to were Alan Menken's Disney tunes and MJ
Cheesy pop and Britpop led the way

The two best years for movies of all time - 1994 and '99
There were sitcoms at their peak, new classics every week
And I can say I was there when they all first aired ... yeah

CHORUS

Far out, to me it's far out
Far out, to me it's far out
Far out, to me it's far out
Far out, to me it's far out

CHORUS x2

SILLY BOYS

No one really understands why he won't even look him in the eye
Never underestimate just how stubborn
Silly boys can be if they try

Guess I shouldn't be surprised - still, I can't help rolling my eyes
Tell me what's the point of this separation
Tell me what is wrong with you guys

Thinking back on the times we had
Awesome nights out with the lads
How could things have gone so bad?

Everyone is hoping there might be a way of stopping their fight
'Cause this one has been going on far too long
Is there a way of making it right?

I don't see an ending in sight - both of them are hurting inside
But neither one will ever admit how much
If nobody will swallow their pride

Is it really worth it?
Is it worth the cost?
All the memories that you made
All the memories that you've lost

Looking back on the things we wrote
Dirty jokes and movie quotes
That is what I miss the most

COOL LADIES
She's a sucker for the seaside, it's her second home
She took me on a silent journey, never left the room
She's my muse and I amuse her, it goes hand in hand
And we are both fans of the band

Through her I met Frank and Toby, now they're pals of mine
Through me she met friends and families
Come on down, we'll have ourselves a good time
Meanwhile in the legion, the princess and the dude
Are probably taking pictures of their food (of their food)

Anyone who knows her knows you couldn't hope to meet
Anyone as selfless or as generous and sweet
All she wanted on her birthday was a day with me
And a card made specially

My CD is always playing when she's in the car
So I think it's safe to say that
She's the biggest fan I've ever had by far
So this little tribute's the least that I can do
I'm so very grateful to have you (to have you)

When she called she always asked how I was doing first
Always cared about our family like we cared for hers
Charity and animals were what she loved the most
And she was such a gracious host

She told me she's glad there's things the camera doesn't see
But even to outsiders it was clear
She was the centre of the family
There are very few who stay cool when they get old
But I ask you, isn't that the goal? (it's my goal)

POSTED SCRIPT
Once I learned how, I wrote my dream down
Poured it all onto paper
I don't know yet what the next step is
Or how to go about it

Once it's out of my hands
I know that's when anything can happen
Could it be that this dream will be the one to break the pattern?
Words are worlds of the soul
And for now I still have control

A tale of childhood, meant to do good
Like a gift sent from heaven
A magical mixture of past and future
Here and now in the present

Once it's out of my hands
I know that's when anything can happen
Could it be that this dream will be the one to break the pattern?
Words are worlds of the soul
So while I have control
I'll hold on as long as I can
'Cause what if no one understands
Where I'm coming from, what I mean?
The clearest vision there's ever been
